Model Information

Computed discharge is computed using a rating curve that relates gage height (stage) to discharge. Rating curves usually are developed by graphical analysis of numerous manual discharge measurements (sometimes called calibrations). These measurements are made on various schedules and sometimes for different purposes. Each measurement is carefully made, and undergoes quality assurance review. Some measurements can indicate the need for a change in the rating, often due to a change in the bed or riparian vegetation; such changes are called shifts.

The individual measurements used for the development of the rating curve can be obtained from NWISWeb. The actual rating curve and shifts used to compute discharge are avilable upon request from the USGS Water Science Center that maintains this station.
